Trénel began in Charnay-lès-Mâcon in 1928 as a family fruit-liqueur business, then moved into wine. André Trénel helped build the house’s reputation at home and abroad. Today, within the Chapoutier family’s wine world, its focus remains southern Burgundy and Beaujolais. Chardonnay, Gamay and their neighbours provide the material; the house’s guiding interest is the character of the fruit and the place it comes from.
