TeWa - Rara Neagră bottle

TeWa, Ștefan-Vodă PGI, Moldova

TeWa Rară Neagră 2023

  • Sour cherry
  • Redcurrant
  • Rhubarb

Sour cherry and redcurrant with a rhubarb-like freshness. Light and juicy, for the sort of supper that needs no occasion.

You’ll notice the lively bite, then a small savoury twist.

Like light, juicy reds? Try this Rară Neagră for its bright, tangy fruit.

20% aged for six months in new Carpathian oak; 80% aged for six months in stainless steel. Both portions rested on their lees with regular stirring.

From the Cojocaru family vineyard near Cioburciu, beside the lower Nistru River.

TeWa: small vineyards, different stories

TeWa works with small grape growers in Moldova, staying involved from pruning to harvest. The Chardonnay comes from the Yurco family near Talmaza, and the Rară Neagră from the Cojocaru family near Cioburciu. Hand-picking, time on the lees and different proportions of oak shape each wine. The landscape photographs on the labels are by Mihai Stamati.
