AT THE TABLE
Roast duck with sour cherry sauce
Dried-fruit depth suits the duck and rounded tannins meet its richness.

Domeniile Pripa, Valea Hamza, Ștefan-Vodă PGI, Moldova
Dried fruit, chocolate and a touch of vanilla make this a generous, dry red. It feels rounded, with a gentle grip and flavours that stay after you swallow. Around twelve months in Moldovan oak add a woody edge. Save it for an unhurried evening when there is time to linger.
You'll notice the chocolate and vanilla lingering after the fruit.

SOMETHING SIMPLE
The generous fruit follows the glaze and the gentle grip suits the browned skin.
FOR SHARING
The long, savoury flavours fit the filling and the rounded texture suits the pastry.
Try a little aged Gruyère after supper; the rounded grip and long chocolate note stand up to the cheese.
A very delicate herb omelette would disappear beside the dried fruit and chocolate.

The producer
Domeniile Pripa grows its own grapes on the southwest-facing slopes of the Hamza Valley, near Purcari. The grapes are picked by hand, and local varieties sit alongside Merlot and Saperavi. Moldovan oak barrels are made by coopers from Ulmu. An old stone cellar inspired the project’s renewal; the first experimental wine came from the 2016 harvest.
