Roast duck with lentils
The broad texture matches the rich duck.

Marcel Deiss, Alsace, France
Redcurrant and sour cherry in a broad, juicy orange wine. Fine grip and a bitter edge keep it interesting over a long supper.
You’ll notice red-fruit flavours and a long, drying finish.
For anyone curious about an orange wine that feels close to a structured red.
Fermented with the grape skins, then rested in a large wooden cask. Bottled unfiltered, with no added sulphites.

SOMETHING SIMPLE
Spice and browned edges suit the dry grip.
FOR SHARING
Salty cheese balances its bitter finish.
Roast guinea fowl can meet its broad, savoury feel.
Very sweet glazes can make its bitter edge seem harsher.

At Marcel Deiss in Bergheim, different grape varieties grow side by side, then travel together through harvest and pressing. This old Alsatian practice, called complantation, lets the vineyard take the lead. Biodynamic work, covered soils and attention to birds and bees extend the same idea beyond the vines. The aim is a wine that tells you where it grew, with all the complexity of that living place.
