Riquewihr Marcel Deiss 2023

€26.90

Why it's worth a try

From aromatic Alsace, France
White & Biodynamic
Fruit-forward deliciousness
Intense, daring wine with high impact

Riquewihr 2023 is a collab between Riesling and Pinot Gris grown on deep clay and siliceous soils around the village of Riquewihr (Engelsreben & Rosenbourg). Biodynamically farmed, whole-cluster pressed, fermenting wild, then aged a year on lees. It bursts with white fruit and citrus, balanced by an aristocratic depth. It’s thick, fresh, razor-sharp, with salty-mineral precision that snarls and lingers. This wine talks terroir, not trends.

Marcel Deiss

Poetic Alsatian Wines

Nestled in Bergheim, Alsace, the Deiss family has been doing its thing since the 1700s, and the modern estate launched in 1947. Today Jean‑Michel and Mathieu Deiss are all about field blends or complantation: planting mixed grape varieties in the same plot, fermented together, and 100% biodynamic since the late ’90s.

Forget single varietals—these are all about soulful blends. Their vineyard-led “Vins de Terroirs,” expressive and thoughtful, are so revered they even shook up Alsace labeling laws to ditch grape names from Grand Cru labels.
