Le Jeu des Verts Marcel Deiss 2022
Why it's worth a try
A co-plantation orange wine from Alsace’s Gruenspiel vineyard. Riesling, Gewurztraminer, and Pinot Noir ferment together on skins for weeks, then rest in foudre. It’s Campari-bitter, dense, and endlessly complex.
Marcel Deiss
Poetic Alsatian Wines
Nestled in Bergheim, Alsace, the Deiss family has been doing its thing since the 1700s, and the modern estate launched in 1947. Today Jean‑Michel and Mathieu Deiss are all about field blends or complantation: planting mixed grape varieties in the same plot, fermented together, and 100% biodynamic since the late ’90s.
Forget single varietals—these are all about soulful blends. Their vineyard-led “Vins de Terroirs,” expressive and thoughtful, are so revered they even shook up Alsace labeling laws to ditch grape names from Grand Cru labels.
WINE REGION
Alsace: France's Jewel of Aromatic Whites

Alsace is a northeastern wine region in France, bordering Germany, known for its aromatic white wines and unique blend of French and German influences.

Riesling, Gewürztraminer, and Pinot Gris are prominent, offering expressive and aromatic profiles.

The vineyards are situated on the foothills of the Vosges Mountains, benefiting from a dry microclimate and diverse soils that contribute to the wines' complexity.
