The producer

Clos Bellane: The southern Rhône, seen from higher ground

Stéphane Vedeau found the freshness he wanted high above Valréas, at Clos Bellane. Limestone slopes and an easterly exposure give the estate a different rhythm from the warmer valley below. Organic farming and gentle handling follow that lead. Grapes move through a gravity cellar, while ageing is adjusted to each wine in concrete or wood. The purpose is clear: preserve the balance this elevated Rhône site offers.

Grapes / sourcing: Grenache and Syrah; Roussanne, Marsanne and Viognier.
Farming: Organic cultivation.
Winemaking: Gravity handling, careful sorting and gentle extraction.
Terroir: Limestone slopes with east and southeast exposure.
Altitude: The estate stands around 410 metres.
