Langhe Nebbiolo G.D. Vajra 2023
Why it's worth a try
Light, floral, and neon-red Nebbiolo made with care. Young vines, brief skin contact, aged in steel, to highlight mountain berries, red cherry, lavender, and mineral finesse. A modern twist on a classic.
G.D. Vajra
Barolo with a Sprinkle of Free‑Spirit
Based in high-altitude Barolo (Bricco delle Viole), G.D. Vajra was pushed into life by teenage passion. Aldo Vaira wanted to make wine so badly, his dad signed the paperwork for him at age 15. He snagged the region’s first organic certification in 1971, revived the heirloom grape Freisa, and welcomed Riesling (literally their honeymoon grape!)
G.D. Vajra crafts elegant Barolos that balance power and finesse. Alongside Barolo, they produce expressive Dolcetto and Barbera, plus the rare Freisa and Riesling, all with minimal intervention and a respect for tradition. Their wines offer a classic Piedmontese experience with a modern, lively twist.
WINE REGION
Piemonte: The King of Italian Reds

One of Italy’s most prestigious wine regions, Piemonte produces around 2.5 million hectoliters of wine yearly and is home to over 18,000 wineries. It’s the birthplace of Barolo and Barbaresco—two of Italy’s most celebrated wines.

Known for powerful reds like Nebbiolo, Barbera, and Dolcetto. Barolo alone accounts for about 14 million bottles produced annually.

Rolling hills, cool Alpine influences, and rich limestone soils make Piemonte ideal for complex, structured wines with excellent aging potential. Fog (or nebbia, which inspired Nebbiolo’s name) is a signature element of the region’s climate.
