Bianco Dario Prinčič
Why it's worth a try
Prinčič Winery, located in Oslavia near the Slovenian border, was founded in 1993. Initially, Dario Prinčič sold grapes to local wineries before transitioning to natural farming in 1988, eliminating chemicals and using only organic fertilizers. By 1999, he fully adopted skin-contact winemaking for all wines. The 10-hectare estate, with steep, clay-sandstone soils, requires all work to be done by hand. Grapes are hand-harvested and macerated in open oak vats without temperature control, added yeasts, or sulfur. Wines age in old wooden barrels, undergo natural fining in stainless steel, and are bottled unfiltered with minimal sulfur, often showcasing a deep orange hue.
Dario Prinčič
Pioneer of Orange Wine in Friuli

Dario Prinčič isn’t just a winemaker—he’s a revolutionary. Since founding his winery in 1993 in Gorizia, he’s been at the forefront of the skin-contact wine movement, bringing back ancient techniques with a modern vision. His tiny estate, where he works alongside his family, follows organic principles and produces around 15,000 bottles per year.
His wines, like the deep, amber-hued Ribolla Gialla, are raw, expressive, and alive. No filters, no shortcuts—just time, patience, and an unshakable commitment to authenticity.
WINE REGION
Friuli: Italy’s White Wine Paradise

A small but mighty region in northeastern Italy, Friuli produces around 1.5 million hectoliters of wine annually. Home to over 1,500 wineries, it’s known for its high-quality, crisp white wines.

Famous for elegant whites like Friulano, Pinot Grigio, and Ribolla Gialla, as well as some of Italy’s best orange wines. Nearly 80% of Friuli’s production is white wine.

A unique blend of Alpine foothills and Adriatic breezes creates the perfect environment for fresh, mineral-driven wines. The region’s diverse soils, including marl and sandstone, add complexity to its wines.
